Great, easy to use phone!

(5 out of 5) by Cecilia Campa on Jun 25, 2001 (Portland, OR USA)
Very happy with this phone. It is difficult to find a two-line, caller id, speakerphone with NO answering machine. I really like this phone!

All but one

(5 out of 5) by Jo-Ann M. Bonesteel on Jul 10, 2001 (Lyndhurst, Va. United States)
Great little phone. Dual keypad, shows number dialed, shows when voice mail has a message, hand setlights up, intercom. More features then my more ... Panasonic. No useless answering machine in this day of voice mail. Only thing missing is automatic answering when you pick up the reciever. Small drawback.

VTech usually does better than this

(3 out of 5) by G. R. Parker on Dec 8, 2001
Two key flaws:
1. No indication (on either base or handset) when someone else is using a phone line -- many phones will show "Extension in Use" or light up the button for that line.
2. In the middle of a call, you hear a brief dialtone as, presumably, it takes the other line "off-hook" to listen for the stutter dial tone representing an unheard voice mail message (so the 2931 can light up). As a previous fan of VTech who bought this phone over Uniden and Panasonic, I'm disappointed and considering returning it.

V-Tech fails to deliver

(1 out of 5) by Gary Fixelle on Sep 18, 2001 (Coral Springs, Fl USA)
The V-Tech 2931 purported to provide a power failure backup solution with an optional battery, However, the phone will only work if there is a power surge prior to a blackout. If the power justs goes out, the spare battery provides only a paperweight functionality. V-tech's documentation on the website speaks to the ability to provide a power backup solution yet the documentation that came with the phone only speaks about having a spare battery that is charged. Upon contacting V-Tech by phone, I received a very disinterested customer service staff who explained that the phone worked like it was supposed to work. When pressed to speak with a supervisor, I was told that they were unavailable and that they would return my call. Since it has been 2 weeks since that conversation, I guess I shouldn't continue to wait by the phone for that call back from the supervisor. I will simply return my purchase and try my luck with a Uniden solution (which, by the way, works like it is supposed to)

Returned!

(1 out of 5) by Amazon Customer on Aug 10, 2001
Bought this two line to replace a Panasonic single line I have had for years and was very disappointed. Signal drops less than 100 feet from base, volume using one of several headsets (all of which work fine on my cell phone) is too low, no mute on handset, and a speakerphone that cuts out. Returned!
