Very disappointed

By the time the alarm went off I was within sight of police cars. It is very specific; it tells you exactly what is there -but not until you see it at the same time.

First Class Unit

(4 out of 5) by Amazon Customer on Aug 18, 2001
Well built, though a bit larger than I had imaged. This is the best use of e-voice I have seen in a consumer product. Clear pleasant voice alerts the driver in a non-stressful way, the voice also states the type of radar detected, nice. The LED banner display is also first class and easy to read. The compass is an excellent and sensible add-on.

This unit may not be the most sensitive, but it rarely give false positives either. What good is an ultra sensitive detector that "cry's wolf" all the time? radartest.com gave this unit five stars for "false alarms", don't overlook this ability as you try and find the most sensitive detector out there. Otherwise you will fill your car environment with "beeping" that you'll just start to ignore.

The only negative is the silver color of the front 2/3rds of the detector. Although it looks nice alone, it stands out on a dark dash and reflects lots of sunlight up to the windshield. I think Cobra stopped using this color on their latest models. Good idea.
