I am very happy with my unit.
I travel quite a bit and now being able to carry 100 or 200 CD's worth of music is a reality. My units works quite well. I have experianced some unexplained skips, but these are few and far between.(Maybe once an hour or two). The other main weakness is the manual itself. It is too skimpy. In order to get the most out of this unit, the best way to name files and how to best use the tags needs to be explained. For example some of my CD/Directories play the files out of order ie track 3 first, sequentually to the last track and them track1 and track2. This is not really a big problem but a few CD's need the tracks played in order. The unit will do it, but how to do it, is not in the manual. I found it hard at first to scroll down through the directories. But once I figured it out on my own (no thanks to the manual) it is quite easy. I usually use the AC, but am now using the batteries. As with most electronic stuff, I expect it will eat the batteries very quickly. I burn my mp3s on Cd at 2x and use the cheapest CD available. The beauty here is I am not worried about damaging a CD. I always have a copy. All my CD's play great. I did get a Cd given to me and only half the files were recognised. I am not sure why as I do not know how the CD was burned. I do know that all the files are at a different bit rates and could even be mpsVBR (variable bit rate). I always use 128 kps mp3s. And have no problem. And yes the CD must be burned all in one session ... something else that is not too clear in the manual. I have not played it in the car, but I have batted it around held it at different angles with no skips. For that 5th and last star in the rating, it could be a bit smaller, the controls a bit friendlier, a completer manual, and absoluty no skips. All in all I am happy with my unit as I now have hundreds of hours of music now at my disposal in my one CD wallet.

Most Bang for Your Buck
After reading these reviews I decided to buy both the Phillips Expandium and Memorex to compare the two. I was pleasantly surprised (mainly for financial reasons) that the Memorex for superior in all but a few categories. This unit has ID3 tagging, which is great for finding your MP3's quick on the CD (there's a album, artist, or track search feature). I do recommend using Adaptec's Easy CD Creator to make MP3 CD's. The player has read every MP3 without fail. The unit is light and easy to use, although getting aquainted with the buttons is a little tricky at first. The only complaint I have is the anit-skip mechanism. I bought this mainly to bring with me to the gym, and after I used it today, it skipped almost 20 times in 30 minutes, and that was just placing it on the machine (where I noticed other people were placing there's with no problem). It works great in the car, but so far I've been disappointed with it's performance elsewhere. Overall it's great though. You just have to be patient with the MP3 feature. It takes about 20-30 seconds until the CD is ready to play, which can be frustrating. Once it's ready to go though, there's no better player out there right now. It's WELL worth it!

Don't spend another penny
This is a great player for the $. It's the best valued portable CD player on the market and with the benefit of MP3, you cannot beat it. This anti-skip is excellent. I could not make it skip. Don't spend more for other MP3 CD players, this one is all you need. Don't bother buying a regular CD player, with the flexibility of MP3 CD players, a regular CD player is obsolete.

Something I have been waiting for!!!
If you have a CD burner you would agree with me that buying a MP3 player was pretty much a waste of money. But most of yall probley have the same idea that Memorex created. I thought it would never been done, but it did. Today I bought this product and I never looked back. Its a great MP3 CD-R player which includes a LCD display of the files of their ID3 tag. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is because it does not support playing multisession CDs. But it does support all bitrate up to 192 (thats the highest MP3 bitrate I have in my collection). It even has a find file feature where you put keywords and find songs through each file's ID3 tag. Overall a great product and this is just the beginning on MP3 CD players!

Details On Unit
I myself wanted to know more about the product, so I emailed memorex and they sent me the specs for it. I have one now and am happy with it. It does not have the 2-3 sec delay between songs and Batteries last approx. 4-5 hours.
