Saved all my equipment when others didn't

Jul 10, 2003 - By Royal (New Rochelle, NY United States)

Cannot recommended Tripp-Lite enough. I had this Isobar Ultra filled with computer equipment. An electrician's company fed 220 volts into two house circuits. The equipment plugged into the Tripplites were fine. The electronics plugged into a cheaper strip all fried. $3,000 worth of damage. If I had spent the money on the TrippLite I would still have my 36" HDTV, DVD, and VCR.

Tripp lite's side fuse was popped and would not reset. Internally it was fried, smelled like it melted and something rattled inside. Contacted TrippLite and, no questions asked, they sent me a replacement--no fees. I had the tripplite for at least five years. The LifeTime warranty is real, don't forget that. And this unit is all metal housing. Heavy, solid, with mounting screw holes on the back. THe cable is thick and solid. It will tell you if the plug is ungrounded. The plugs are isolated to eliminate EMI noise from propigating from one plug to the next.

My ultra has a modem/phone pass thru on one side. I don't see that mentioned here.

Isobar 6 Ultra

Jan 3, 2007 - By Guy

High quality construction, takes a combination of regular plugs and adapter bricks.Great price too.
Only problem is I'm now running out of outlets - should have bought the 8 outlet version!

Field-Tested, Home-Trusted

May 12, 2008 - By K. Fontenot (The Bayou State)

The Tripp Lite Isobar Ultra first drew my attention when I went to work for a local communications company. I noticed that in every one of our offices and in almost all of our customers' businesses, equipment was plugged into one of these puppies, from the smallest they offer to the largest. I have witnessed lightning storms that have literally blown sockets out of walls, and yet the equipment plugged into the Isobar has remained intact. Granted, some of the Isobars didn't fare as well as the equipment they protected, but they did their job.

Having witnessed the quality of this product, I trust it in my own home. Everything from my computer to my entertainment center to my paper shredder is attached to an Isobar Ultra. I highly recommend it for it's quality and performance.

The best made in my opinion

Aug 19, 2008 - By John O'donnell (New York USA)

I have these all over my studio. Some are over 10 years old and still work. I have tens of thousands of dollars in equipment plugged into some. From strobe packs to computers, monitors and printers. They're built like the proverbial brick s__thouse and I wouldn't consider another brand. Why mess with cheapies?

Name Brand Surge Protector

Apr 27, 2008 - By ranger505 (Texas)

Isobar was the best surge protector I could buy in 1989 with my IBM 8088 XT. I just like the name and figure you get what you pay for. I have had a few Wal*mart $8 surge protectors go out already. Yes I bought a Bill Gates system already.
