Size Is The Issue

(5 out of 5) by Amazon Customer on Jun 21, 2002
This 3FT size is prefferable to the 10 FT size for transfering files. Less tangling and the price is MUCH cheaper.
The 10 FT model might be preferrable for gaming across the room, but gaming across the table with a 3FT cable is more fun.

You can also use a parallel port cable connection for gaming so this consideration shouldn't be given much emphasis if you already have a parallel cable.

If you do need to network over a longer distance in a working group, you likely will be using a hub so this is not the cable for that. Use a cat5 instead.

works great, good price

(5 out of 5) by M. H Shamp on May 13, 2006 (Columbia Falls, MT United States)
Plugged one end into desktop, the other in laptop. Ran the Network setup wizard, everything works perfectly. No need for hubs, switches, all that expensive junk. Transfers info about 10 Mb per second - amazing! Most files is like a blink of an eye. Perfect if you have XP on both machines like me. I don't know how other platforms work, but probably just fine too.

Now that I have a 3 foot cord, I am thinking about getting a 40' one and drag it across the room. I have dial up internet, and wireless (as I understand it) requires high speed.

Corrupts data

(1 out of 5) by KW on Oct 21, 2007
I purchased this with a new PC to make moving some files and settings over easy. It did connect after some tinkering with XP's networking but most of the files were corrupted in the transfer so I ended up having to move the files to a drive on my old PC and then install the drive on the new one. Don't know if this is trustworthy enough for other uses if you want to network two PCs, it didn't do the job for me. (Note I was using XP 64 on both machines and NTSC file system.)

Your standard crossover cable.

I purchased this to link two switches together. This cable is well designed and of a good quality.

Just what you expect

(5 out of 5) by Jason Heiss on May 19, 2009
Not much to say about a cable, but it works like you'd expect. Three feet is short, but just what you need in some situations (between a router and wireless access point in my case).
