Nice addition to my PC

(5 out of 5) by Carlos Santiago on Dec 14, 2000 (Virginia, USA)
Installation: Very easy to install. The documentation is very clear and easy to follow. It shouldn't take more than 10 minutes to hook it up and get it working. No dip switches, no jumpers, just Plug and Play and restart your machine.

Configuration: In my case, the default settings looked just fine. But if you require tweaking you got the 3dfx Tools in your Taskbar where you can control the most used features, such as resolution and color settings. Advanced settings such as antialiasing, alpha- blending and detail bias can also be changed using the tools menu. An excellent Help tool is very useful to understand the purpose of every video setting.

Performance: It was noticeable immediately. I tested it with games such as King's Quest, Mask of Eternity, which had the option of using the 3dfx card and it looked much nicer and performed much faster. BIG improvement there. I also noticed an overall improvement when running MS Windows Media Player 7, which used to take most of my resources, now it runs smoothly and the visualizations look the way they are supposed to. The best thing about it is that it was compatible with everything I tested it on. I'm using a PII 350, 128MB RAM with a Creative DVD and Windows ME and it works quite smoothly and with no glitches.

Observations: I had to tweak my emulator settings in MAME and ZSNES to be able to play these DOS games. But I got them to work in no time.

This card brings an overall performance improvement to your system plus it is completely stable. You can not ask for more at this price level.

Five stars and 100% recommended

Not bad at all

(4 out of 5) by apocalypse on Oct 30, 2000 (Etoile, TX USA)
After playing demanding games like half-life and Quake III on my intel i810 chipset's integrated graphics, the Voodoo 4 4500 PCI is like a dream come true. The framerates that come from this card are extraordinary. I had very little trouble installing it, and I had no compatibility problems. If you are looking for a good graphics card but you have a tight budget, then this is the card for you.

Voodoo 4 4500 vs GeForce 2 MX

(5 out of 5) by Amazon Customer on Oct 31, 2000
I thnik the Voodoo 4 4500 is a great product. I upgraded from a Voodoo 3 2000 PCI and I simply love it! I don't like how everyone is saying the MX is so much better than the Voodoo 4. I used to play all my games on a K62-450 and a Voodoo 3 200 PCI and still got great frame rates. So with a machine twice as fast with a better Voodoo card I should love it. The MX has had some issues of not being compatible and also who cares if it is faster. Nvidia is so hyped up on speed and not image quality. 3dfx provides great image quality and good frame rate to have both of them. Just my 2 cents.

Who could ask for more?

(5 out of 5) by Susan Walker on Jan 3, 2001 (Grass Valley, CA United States)
Forget the Annihalator GeFORCE2. This is the card! Unless of course you have more to spend on the Voodoo 5 5500, but thats 50 bucks more and this runs just perfect! I could not reccomend anything more since I upgraded from my Intel chipset. This is everything but worse! Try playing Diablo II or Unreal tournament and have Frame rates at 20 per second.... then upgrading to htis and gettin 80+. Now thats quality! In comparison to this card, my old Intel one is probably a 1 star. Go buy this now! You will not regret. Best video card, and video card company bottom line!

Great Card

(5 out of 5) by Amazon Customer on Feb 3, 2001 (New Jersey)
Well bid farewell to 3DFX. I bought this card after my wife and I saw what kind of graphics the 810 chipset produces (horrible). I installed it in about 8 mins. The drivers had no conflict at all. I was going to get the voodoo 5500 but the compaq case wouldn't allow it. I am very pleased when I play simulators on it. I don't know how Unreal tournement plays or Quake III but the image quality is superb on all my sims. It is better then the nvidia geforce 2mx based cards. We all know that nvidia has bought out 3dfx I just hope they keep making this card! Buy it if you can find it.
