good concept but way too pricey
(2 out of 5) by Amazon Customer on Jan 29, 2001The main use of a product like this is to wire an office or home lan connecting for example a pc in one room with a router in another. In this situation you can use keystone jacks that fit into a special wallplate similar to a telephone jack. You punchdown the wire into the jack. Use premade patchcords from the pc to wallplate, router to wallplate etc. It's about 3 times as much as it should be for the quality of product.

Why buy it?
(1 out of 5) by Daniel Brockman on Jan 17, 2001 (Petaluma, CA USA)I have worked with CAT-5 cable. I have used it in spool form (like this product) which requires you to attach your own adapters. And I have used it in precut lengths in which the vendor attaches the adapters. If your time is worth more than 25 cents per hour, then I suggest you will be more satisfied with precut lengths. I can hardly imagine an end-use situation in which buying a spool of this stuff would make sense.
