Great price, great player
I got this player just over five months ago now and it's still going strong. Not exactly feature heavy, but at <($), what do you expect? Mine may be a slightly different model than the one reviewed here by amazon.com, because mine does have DTS and what sounds like a totally different remote control (same product number, though). Anyway, there are some minor problems with this player that I've experienced. It doesn't seem to like my TV remote, because if I use it too much while watching a DVD, the picture freezes (but the sound continues) and I have to turn of the player completely. Also the remote can be slow to respond. Niether one of these is a big deal to me (I guess I'm pretty patient), but these minor issues might bug another person. The bottom line is, this is a great player, and if you want home theater on a tight budget, this is definately worth a look!

excellant choice for entry level player
So far I haven't had any problems with this dvd player. Easy to set up and use. Besides dvd's, I've tried various cd-r's on this unit without significant difficulties. I haven't had any problems with the remote control. I've also been able to keep my vcr connected to the television at the same time as this dvd player which makes it convenient for times when I want to play vhs tapes. If you just want a basic dvd player that will play a variety of formats, then buy this one.

Bummed out!
I wanted just a basic DVD player, but this is a little too basic for me ... even at that does not work really well at several critical junctures. It takes a long time to load and read a new DVD or CD and does not always respond to commands. I have even had to unplug it and turn it on again to get it to eject a DVD it did not want to play. Its' lack of a component output is a real bummer, too! Slow motion is jerky and sometimes does not work at all. I plan to give it away and get a (hopefully) much better player soon.

Konka conquers high prices with value & features
Konka electronics has proven to be a leader in the highly sought after consumer electronics market and gives customers top quality products that are deeply discounted compared to other name brand products with similar features. Their reputation is excellent, and if the public only knew how far their dollar could stretch with their products, Konka would be a household name. This DVD player has a sleek appearance and its functions/operation is top notch. I am very pleased with this purchase.

BE CAREFUL
I BOUGHT THIS FOR MY 76 YEAR OLD MOTHER WHICH MEANT THAT I HAD TO SET UP THE SYSTEM. SINCE SHE HAD AN OLDER TV, I HAD TO RUN THE CONNECTION VIA AN EVEN OLDER VCR. FORGET IT. I ENDED UP BUYING HER A NEW TV/VCR 25" COMBO TO ACCOMMODATE THE DVD. WORKS WELL AFTER ALL THE ASSOCIATED PURCHASES.
MY PET PEEVE - AND IT IS EXEMPLIFIED WITH THIS UNIT - IS POOR MANUAL DIAGRAMS AND EVEN WORSE WRITTEN INSTRUCTIONS. WITH THIS UNIT, IT'S WORSE THAN POOR. THESE COMPANIES WOULD BE WELL ADVISED TO HIRE ENGLISH GRADS TO REDO ALL THEIR OWNERS MANUALS. INSTRUCTIONS ARE POOR - POOR - POOR - HAIR PULLING TERRIBLE.
