Works in basement and 3rd floor and with RC3253 Receiver
(5 out of 5) by kokomo on Oct 24, 2007 (Bucks County, PA United States)I installed this on the first floor and put the enclosed receiver on the third floor (20 feet away). I set the transmitter chime to the Ding Dong front door ringer. I did not change the default frequency setting, which may be done by sniping different connectors with fingernail clippers. You would only need to change the frequency if there is interference.
I also purchased the RC3253 Plug In Chime Receiver and put it in the basement - which also works well (15 feet away). Even though the RC3253 receiver is able to produce many more chime sounds than the RC3200 receiver, it will only produce as many as the transmitter is capable of making. This is because the chime setting is in the transmitter and not in the receivers.
The chimes available with this transmitter are:
1. Dong
2. Ding Dong
3. Westminster Chime
4. Star Spangled Banner
5. Hail, Hail, The Gang's All Here
6. Jingle Bells

Not so Great Door Bell Extender
(5 out of 5) by E-Consumer on Jun 19, 2007Update: Started to have problems after about 1 year. Would only work some of the time. Does not have the range that it used to. Would only give it 2 stars if I could change them.
Previous Review: This product works great. I tried the type that you put close to the existing bell, and they did not work. This Lamson product worked like a charm - even with walls in the way and an 80 foot distance. I purchase an extra chime receiver, and put it in the workshop outside, and it works!

Works great!
(5 out of 5) by mayo222 on Jun 5, 2008 (Iowa)Very easy to install. Works just like it says. The wireless part that hooks to your current chime is a little thick, but not horrible. I was able to hide it in the gang box behind the chime. Hooked the plug in chime down in the basement and works without a problem. I would definitely recommend for the basement, esp if you have a hard time hearing the one upstairs like I do.

This one is no different. The RC3200 has EXTREMELY long range with EXCELLENT results.
