Great Design, Clarity, and it is White

Apr 13, 2001 - By Amazon Customer

Some thought was put into the design of this phone and it has great clarity. We've only had it for a day but we've been through most of the features. This phone is 900 MHZ DSS with caller id, a large function button, and a built-in answering machine. It is easy to use (very intuitive) and has a good manual which you should read to learn about all of the neat features. This phone works somewhat like a cell phone in that you put the number in that you are calling and you can edit it before you actually dial (i.e., you press the talk button to dial) instead of starting over when you make a mistake. Also, you can press any number to answer the phone in addition to the talk button. This phone can be programmed to call your pager when messages come in. It also has one DIRECT button where you can preprogram the button to call a number with only one touch. There are 50 other memory locations that you scroll through. The other nice thing about this phone other than its nice looks is that when a call comes in, the person's name is in large print so that it is easy to read. You can hang it on the wall and it has a place to put the extra length of the electrical cord. This is the only white phone that we found that met our needs.

Was fun while it lasted

Apr 20, 2001 - By Amazon Customer

I loved this phone. It had great features and it seemed well made and durable. Everyone in my family liked the phone. I thought I had finally found the perfect cordless phone. It stopped working after approximately 28 days. So I continue in my quest for the perfect cordless phone.

High tech - Low quality

Jun 8, 2001 - By Amazon Customer

I agree with the previous review that this phone has an impressive functional capability, but I think the one that I received was released from manufacturing on Quality Assurance's day off. Fresh out of the box, all audio information changed volume level in a random manner, with no programming. This includes receive signals well asinformational beeps. At times the received signal would fade away entirely; even with the user standing next to the base unit. While programming inputs to the Directory, the "save" key began sticking. Again, the occurence was random; at times it would operate properly and at other times the key would have to be pushed from two to six times before the command would be executed.I reluctantly concluded that this puppy was not going to heal itself and that my only re course was to box it up and return it. I am getting another model Panasonic and trust that it will perform up to my expectations since I have one other Panasonic that has been flawless.

Products by Panasonic

Dec 10, 2000 - By Amazon Customer

Though Panasonic consistently produce quality products, their prices may be higher than other competitive brands. This particular phone has many convenient features. The battery life on such phone is short that is to be expected. The upside is that this phone does charge the battery fairly quick to the spec. The range varies, depends where you live and where you place the base. I would recommend to find a good central location for the base. The antenna is something that of a concern. It is rigid and potential breakage if not careful. Overall, I say this is a great phone with above average price for these specs and quality.

Great phone, but poor battery life

Apr 28, 2002 - By C. Kissner (San Jose, CA)

We've had the KXTC-1866 for about a year and have found it's great except for two issues. First, the battery runs down quite rapidly. We usually get about a half-hour of talk time. Second, the volume of the message payback is very poor on remote pickup, even if we set the volume to max. I am putting in a new battery in hopes that it was defective.
