I bought my Philips MZ-3 player from Amazon in the spring of 2001. I have used it in both home and office environments, often with my computer plugged in to the auxiliary jack. Despite traveling to various places in Missouri, Tennessee, and Illinois, the system provides the same sound quality today as it did seven years ago. Best stereo I ever purchased for under $100.

The only reason I am writing this review is that I searched for "philips mz-3 manual" as I long ago lost mine and I had a question about setting automatic wake, and lo and behold Amazon had the PDF version of the manual right here on the site. Which is pretty darn great customer service when one considers that the product has been discontinued.

This compact system has served me without a hitch for years. I live in an apartment. The separate speakers allow you to point them in different directions or move them around. It's aesthetic, too. The design is simple and elegant. It doesn't have too many bells and whistles - it does what it does well. I actually used the system as a receiver, connecting it to my tv for additional speakers on movie night. I have connected my record player to it as well. It's a very functional piece that won't clutter up your space. Sounds great, looks great, affordable - what else do you need?

This micro system is perfect for a dorm or small apartment. I bought a second one to use at the office. It sounds terrific too - much more powerful than 30 watts! It has a lot of features that are usually found on higher priced systems, like digital sound control and the clock with alarm.
