Giant Sound From Flat Speaker System!

(4 out of 5) by Amazon Customer on Feb 20, 2001
I purchased this sound system on February 18, 2001. It took very little time to set up on my computer. Once everything was in place, LOOKOUT! I instantly thought, "wow theatre quality sound". I put in a few games and the sound was excellent, it really adds to the games that I enjoy playing. Later, I played a few music CD's and the sound was just as good playing my favorite songs. I now wish that I had a DVD-rom to watch movies on my computer. The system comes with two slim, flat panel speakers and a subwoofer in a black box. All of the speakers fit nicely with my desk arrangements. One nice feature is the volume control that you can move around anywhere-- easy to turn things down when the phone rings. All in all a very nice upgrade for very little money.

Solid sound experience with nice features

(4 out of 5) by MAJ in Idaho on Jun 21, 2001 (Nampa, Idaho United States)
These speakers so far are providing excellent sound. The flat panel design is very nice, and I was glad to see they included wall/monitor mounts and stand-up mounts. The one negative I have with the speakers is the lack of a headphone port. To keep from distracting my wife's TV watching I had to purchase a splitter to come out of my tower with one path going to the speakers and one going to the headphones. A headphone jack in the volume control or flat speakers would have been much easier and nicer. Still though the system provides good sound for the music, and with the exception of the headphone inconvenience I rate this a solid buy for anyone interested in mid-range, moderate priced sound quality.

For the money, Terrific

(5 out of 5) by Michael D. Gibson on Jun 28, 2001 (Phoenix, USA)
For the money, the best set of speakers I have. I now longer use the boombox in the den, these speakers are better. Crisp highs, really smooth and clear bass, and the are practically invisible on on the wall behind the computer. Do put the bass unit on the floor, it really makes a difference, although I started with it behind the monitor and even that was great.

Unexpectedly Good

(5 out of 5) by Amazon Customer on Mar 6, 2001 (Providence, RI USA)
I bought this set from a well known retailer because they were selling it for $20 after a mail in rebate. Sometimes one can be suspicious when a $50 system goes for $20. However I decided test it and then purchase if it was any good. I liked the sound of the system instantly. The base is I believe somewhat artificially raised and I really like that (you can adjust the bass if you wish). The set is playing the role of "rear" speakers for my computer. The front set of speakers is an altec 340x and I also have a set of cambride pcworks which used to be attached to my computer but is now used with my TV as a barebones hometheater system. Between all three, the labtec system is definitely the best. I was really not expecting it to be so good. I am moving soon, but once I am done acs340 will be relegated to the rearand the labtec will be brought to the front!

GREAT!

These speakers are great! I only have onboard sound, no soundcard, and the sound out of the speakers is true to life. The subwoofer, for its size and wattage, is amazing. The speakers can be wall or monitor mounted too. If you have plus for windows xp, you can use the speaker enhancement function for these. No complaints here!
