Mostly a great DVD player
(4 out of 5) by Satisfied Customer on May 28, 2006 (New Jersey, USA)This DVD plays most dvds that I've tried and the battery works fine. The image is clear and it doesn't make too much noise.
The one problem I have with it is that when I plug it in and hook it up to the tv, after an hour or so it will become overheated and start skipping. If I continuously move it around every 10-15 min or cool it down, then the skipping stops.

4 yrs old.....still a solid performer

Three years old, and still going strong!

It was used initially to keep me occupied on long flights, and performed flawlessly everytime. It was knocked around, bumped, and generally tossed around quite a bit in my carry on bag, and never skipped a beat. These days, it keeps two boys, ages six and three, occupied on long trips in my wife's minivan- you can only imagine the abuse it suffers at the hands of those two! It is routinely dropped, stepped on, and baked in the back of the car, and yet it is still going strong! The durability of this little unit is amazing! My wife spent around $1,000 for this unit originally. These days similar units are much cheaper ($150-$200?), but I wonder about the quality, even of the newer Panasonic models, like the LS90.

This is probably the best purchase I have ever made. This thing is everything I ever expected and more!! It's easy to use as well - even my wife can operate it!
I have to say, everyone out there who is thinking of buying this, stop thinking. I bought it and I am extremely happy with it the moment I powered this thing on. YOU ABSOLUTELY POSITIVELY CANNOT GO WRONG WITH THIS PURCHASE! I GUARANTEE IT!!!

Disappointed

All went well the first two weeks until the player started hanging and failing to read disks.I had only watched around six DVD's and had not even charged the battery once since i was running it through the mains.
It would literaly say reading and would not pick up the disk for up to half an hour when i eventualy tried to turn it off and it would not even do that, it just hung. I thought perhaps it would just be a once off failure but then it started happening regularly, so i took it back to Panasonic and am currently waiting for a decision regarding an exchange.
I must say for the first six DVD's I was able to watch, it was brilliant!!, Maybe i just bought a Dud, lets see if Panasonic comes through or not!!
