Many Uses for Portable DVD

(5 out of 5) by Amazon Customer on Sep

I have had this electronic device now for about a year and a half. I bought it because I knew I was facing a long hospital stay and access to entertainment on dialysis etc. was non-existent. I have spent many happy hours attached to miserable machinery that heals my body, but the joy I get from watching movie after movie during the process heals my mind and makes the hours wiz by. It is also a useful device in waiting rooms and when you need to be distracted by something pleasant. Note: I prefer not to use the battery which I find awkward and a little heavy. Otherwise, this is the best investment I ever made!

This is it!

Ive been doing research on portable dvd's for like 7 months -- monitoring there progress -- seeing if the novelty pricing would go down --- reading all of the overheating messages on earlier units etc.
Finally I just broke down and purchased one --- I was going to go with the Aiwa XD-DW1 simply for price (699) -- but hey what do i work for -- so I purchased the Panasonic DVD-L75 --- the screen clarity is untouchable -- I used it on the plane and was able to watch a full movie and the unit heated no more than a laptop or any other machine thats been on for a while -- no signs of overheating although i did see a troubleshooting paragraph about overheating in the intructions
This unit is compact -- and if you were like me and read through all of the posts from users and are uncertain about buying something so expensive (would i use it enough blah blah blah) --- Think of it like this
1. You cant the cash with you (live a little) 2. If you can afford it -- then just do it 3. If you cant wait 5 years for the novelty pricing to go down and get one for like 200 then
It rocks and although the is the latest and greatest pricey unit -- the money will recover and im very happy with my purchase
Oh and **dont** purchase off of an auction service or a refurbed unit or from some shady dealer you dont know about -- if you dont purchase it from Amazon then get it from a respected local source

Top of the line !

I recently purchased a panasonic lv75 and have been in dvd nirvana ever since ! This player has it all : built in dolby digital and dts decoders , great for those without dts decoders in their home receivers. With the optical in/out minijacks you can not only send the dvd signals to another source, tv, vcr, receiver, etc..., but also use the input feature allows you to view movies from your camcorder . The picture is razor sharp on the seemingly spacious 7 inch screen .The sound is great from the two built-in stereo speakers , and is even better with headphones . It has plenty of control features to tweak to your liking and has a very handy "credit card" sized remote . For those out there who aren't willing to spend thousands on a plasma display digital tv's and all in one receivers with progressive dvd output etc.,etc., this a is less expensive and more conveniant way to experience an all digital enviroment . All in all a great purchase .

Mostly a great DVD player

This DVD plays most dvds that I've tried and the battery works fine. The image is clear and it doesn't make too much noise.
The one problem I have with it is that when I plug it in and hook it up to the tv, after an hour or so it will become overheated and start skipping. If I continuously move it around every 10-15 min or cool it down, then the skipping stops.
