Great unit for the price

(3 out of 5) by UofM Tiger on May 17, 2003 (Bartlett, TN United States)
I bought this unit because I do not have enough optical inputs on my receiver. It accomplished it's purpose for a relatively low price. However you have to get up and manually change the switch for the device that you are using. With my receiver t was quite cumbersome because I also had to change the video device that the recever was assigning to the optical port. After hours and hours of research I also purchased a "copperbox" that also switches the video with the audio. This is a more expensive option but for my purposes it was worth the extra money. I am still going to use the Recoton product for an input that the Video does not pass through the receiver.

Works as advertised

(5 out of 5) by R. Romero on Mar 23, 2005 (SE CT, USA)
If you are like me and only have one optical input into your receiver, and need more, this is the way to go. I notice no great loss of sound quality, the switch is very easy to use, and comes with the mini plug adapters you need to plug into it. Yes, you do have to switch it by hand, but what do you expect for this low price? You obviously need to buy one cable pet device you want to plug in, and at least one more cable to go fron the switch to the receiver. No biggie.

I recommend this item.

simple and effective

(4 out of 5) by Cameron Vetter on Apr 26, 2009 (WI, USA)
This couldn't be a simpler approach to a switch for a dolby digital signal, and it works very well. Only complaint is the bizarre adapters required for normal size cables, which are included...

Great Product - Great Price!

Nicely made product. Sound coming out is as good as going in - crystal clear. Great value for the money. Works perfect. Buy it.

Don't waste your money on Junk

(1 out of 5) by Ryan E. Jackson on Dec 8, 2008 (Minnesota)
This item does not work well. Rather than having an input right in the unit, one must use an adapter included with the item. The build quality is very poor and the adapters fall off of the optical cables and if the cable twists signal cuts out.
