Easy and intuitive to use.

(4 out of 5) by Scott Perry on Oct 24, 2002 (Orange County, Ca. USA)
I was happy with this cordless phone. I've found this item easy to use and very intuitive to setup. I like the fact that the base unit does not ring, and the phone has nice adjustable rings at differing tones, as well as an OFF. When at considerable distance from base unit, such as the garage and my mailbox by the street, the voice quality is still excellent (although it will at times pick up the kids' voices when they are yelling).

Outstanding

On May 31, 2001 we had a house fire which was contained to the attic of the house. Unfortuately the rest of the house was soaked including my telephone answering machine. The handset was full of water and the caller id area looked like a carpenter's level with water rolling around in it. For some reason I decided to pack the phone hoping for the best. While unpacking, after we rebuilt in March 2002, I found the phone and plugged it in overnight. To my surprise not only did the phone work but it retained the last 30 calls received on the caller id. I couldn't believe it! You have me hooked on your telephone products. No one could ask for more out of a product.
Thanks.

Working pretty well for me, but has flaws

(4 out of 5) by Dan Crevier on Jan 10, 2001 (Bellevue, WA United States)
First the good stuff. It's a great value for the price. The call waiting feature works well, and the sound quality has been fine for me. The answering machine was easy to set up and is easy to use. It's nice that you can have names for people in your speed dial list so you don't have to make a list or remember all the number.

Now, the minor nits... I wish you could check the answering machine from the phone. The process for entering the names of the people for speed dial is very time consuming (although you can grab them from your caller id list). The ringer on the base station is very loud and you can't turn it down (however, the phone also rings, and you can control the volume there). None of these really bother me on a day to day basis, but they are why I give it 4 stars instead of 5.

The Buzzing is real!

(1 out of 5) by John A. Deluca on Dec 10, 2000 (Burnt Hills, New York USA)
I purchased this phone because I wanted a relatively simple and reliable cordless phone/answering system with good sound quality. I found that the answering system is easy to use and the sound quality is acceptable (although not excellent). I was very disappointed with the sound quality of the phone itself, however. Like another reviewer, I could hear a very noticable and annoying distortion in the sound which in my case occurs whenever the other party is speaking. This problem showed up after about a month of use. I tried the tricks of changing channels and moving the phone location, to no avail. The phone is currently on its way to Memorex for repair. Based upon this experience, I would not recommend this phone to a friend.

Monitor a Call

(3 out of 5) by Ismael R. Dieppa on Dec 2, 2000 (Virginia)
I just receive this telephone as a gift. The only thing I don't like, neither my wife, is that we can not monitor a new call from the handset. The previous answering machine we had, Bell Atlantic, we were able to monitor and either answer or let the machine pick-up. We do like all the other features this machine has.
