Great small biz unit, with minor nits

(4 out of 5) by alfred hanna on Aug 1, 2000 (Pacific NW USA)
I just helped setup a friend with the Epson Stylus 2500, and I think it seems to be an excellent product. Only nit was that the setup didn't seem to go totally smoothly, though I was prompted heavily. However, after reinstalling once, it operates just fine. Odd that while it came with WinFax basic, I had to UNISTALL winfax PRO to get it to work. While installing, it advertised an upgrade to Winfax Pro (funny). However, upgrading to Winfax pro worked ok. Very quick printout times, it seems, even using USB port. Worked fine under Windows 2000. Scanner was very clear, good reproduction, and the software for scanning and copying, faxing, emailing etc, was about the best I've ever worked with. I would highly recommend this to any small business owner needing a combo printer/scanner/fax. I am planning on buying one myself, and replacing my old HP B&W printer, and scanner with an all in one unit. It'll take up less desk space.

Once past the setup, it's a great machine

(5 out of 5) by W. Sisson on Aug 10, 2000 (Gaithersburg, MD USA)
Even with the follow-the-numbers setup poster, installing this machine was a bit more complicated than I would have liked. However, once it was installed, it has worked great. The color copying feature is outstanding, and being able to use it as a stand-alone copier is a plus (and was one of the selling points for me). It works great as a color printer; haven't played much with the scanning side yet but that will come. The control software is comprehensive and makes it easy to get the settings right. Even photos print crisply. All in all, a good combination of features. One caveat: I wouldn't want to use it for much more than a convenience copier (like making a copy of a receipt or something); I don't think it's intended for heavy use (like copying the club newsletter).

All In One Small Business Home Office Gem

(5 out of 5) by Dustin Macintosh on Jun 27, 2000 (Tucson, AZ)
This fax/scan/color copier has excellent quality and has never broken down on us. The features are outstanding and compared to the HP or Brother the price is excellent. I recommend this unit for anyone needing fax, copier and scan capabilities all in one. It looks professional and also delivers professional results

Good design, function, and value

(5 out of 5) by R. Hafer on Oct 30, 2000 (Ann Arbor, MI United States)
We love having this Mac-friendly scanner, copier, and sharable color printer in the house. The performance of these functions over the first few weeks of use has beat my expecations. Trivial software installation and easily connected via USB to iMac (and shared via Airport to my Powerbook). Great looking unit (quality of plastics, design of paper trays, front panel controls, compact design). ... . Only problem was that the included printer share feature didn't resume sharing after waking up the iMac from sleep (fixed by installing Apple's free USB printer sharing software). Don't forget to order a standard USB peripheral cable (15' works even though the manual suggests 6' max), you may also want to try a pack of the excellent Epson Matte Heavyweight Paper which looks promising for framing digital photos.
