Best A/V Receiver Anywhere

(5 out of 5) by Amazon Customer on Dec 1, 1999
This is my second Denon receiver, my first was the AVR-2700. Both are awesome receivers but the AVR-5700 has the capability to use up to 7 speakers instead of 5 and puts out 140 watts per channel. This lets you switch from bipolar surrounds for movies to direct radiating rears for AC-3 or 5 channel stereo. The 5 channel stereo mode is simply unbelievable. If you like listening to music as well as movies, this is the receiver for you.

Awesome Toy

(5 out of 5) by Amazon Customer on Oct 25, 1999
The wife might give you grief....at least until you play her favorite movie through it. This thing is easy to set up, simple to operate and the results are astonishing. Plenty of power for all movies. Even at it's rather steep price, it is still a bargian - I'll have mine for twenty years (or until a better format comes out). Hoorah Denon; job well done.

The Receiver from Heaven

(5 out of 5) by Amazon Customer on Nov 29, 1999
I've had this receiver for about a month and the features are endless... Absolutely incredible sound even at low volume.... The detail is extremely crisp and the bass is profound. The DSP simulation on this receiver is amazing and with a digital connection from a dvd or cd player you feel like you are in the middle of the concert hall or in the middle of the action when watching movies. The 5 channel stereo is heavenly and will make your favorite artist that much better.. I sampled alot of receivers before buying this one, so take advantage of my thorough investigation and spend the extra couple of bucks on this mammoth receiver. (weighs in excess of 50 Pounds) I picked up this receiver through a dealer on an auction site and got a killer deal on it and am glad that I did so. leaves a little extra money for those digital cables and such. A must buy for any Home Theater Enthusiast.

Wow! Some of the Cleanest Sound you'll ever hear! Wow!

(5 out of 5) by Amazon Customer on Nov 30, 1999
Coupled with the top-of-the-line Denon DVD player, HDCD music and DVD videos sound and look awesome! I have my 5700 powering four Polk Audio SRT speakers and an PSW1200 sub and LOOK OUT! It literally can cause my glass tabletop to vibrate, just around 127db (yes, it's true!). The only downside is that some movies can cause the receiver to clip (it safely shuts itself down and you just need to cycle the power) for particular scenes at moderate-to-high volume levels

Denon's 5700 holds the Heavyweight Receiver Belt

(5 out of 5) by Amazon Customer on Jan 20, 2000
I picked up this receiver as an upgrade to my previous Denon receiver (the AVR-2500) which I had for almost 4 years. The reason I bought my first Denon receiver is the fact that 10 years ago, when I bought my first CD player (which just happened to be a Denon) I have never had a problem with it nor ever needed a tune-up. I did lots and lots of shopping around before purchasing this Denon, and found that it was the top of its class. 140 Watts per channel makes this Denon a real screamer. 5-Channel Stereo, all of us reviewers can rant and rave about this, but you have to hear it to believe it. It simply makes any CD so awesome that 2-Channel Stereo just doesn't cut it afterwards. Dolby Digital and DTS make this Denon so versatile for all movies. And we cannot forget to mention THX-Ultra Certified...simply put: the Best of the Best. It is even set up for upgrading to future formats (6th, 7th and 8th channel) This receiver, even though so complex on its inside, is so easy to set up. It practically walks you through everything with its on screen programming guide in nice, easy steps. One word of advice: after buying this, spend the extra bucks for the higher-end cables and hook-ups, they make a world of difference. The Denon AVR-5700 is for anyone who likes to just sit back and relax and listen to their favorite CD, and for anyone who likes to watch movies the way Hollywood wants us to see them: Big Loud Scary and Fun.
