very durable

I've had one of these cd players for 2 years, and it hasn't let me down yet. I've dropped, kicked, and thrown my cd player, but it still works great. The anti-skip though takes about 1 minute and 20 seconds to fill to 40 seconds, which is annoying to me, because I bought a $40 cd player and it filled the anti-skip faster then that. Plus, when the batteries get low, it startes to do some weird stuff, such as turning off and suddenly accelerating the cd a lot faster. Keep batteries in it, and it should preform. Overall, I am pleased with it. I would reccomend this to anyone that wantes a durable cd player.

I got a Kenwood portable cd player with a 4 year extended warranty less than 2 years ago and have taken back 3 of them. I still have the 4th one. Every single one of them came with some types of factory defects, and have screwed up a lot. Mine were a bit better than most peoples Kenwood's because I took good care of all mine, most people drop theres sometimes, so I know about 10 people who have had Kenwood portables that all had problems, usually the cd player just stopped working. Don't bother with Kenwood.

Kenwood discmans suck.

I've had 4 returned 3 on warranty. All 4 had problems right from new, and 2 of them have totally broken down. I have talked to many other people who have had problems too. Usually worse problems than mine.

Great Product by Kenwood. Built to Last!

I was influenced into buying this CD Player by my previous experience with a Kenwood XD-951 Stereo Set, which I currently own. The difference between the DPC-X507 and the DPC-X602 is that the 507 models do not include the car ac adapter or the car cassette adapter. Both CD Players are the same. The Portable CD Player first appealed to me with the design, very small and neat...along with the bright silver finish. My cousin was amazed by the excellent sound quality as opposed to other CD Players. He actually thought that the Bass Boost feature was on when it was really off. Playtime with batteries is very long. The CD Player carries an internal capacity of 2-4 batteries, 2 as a main charge and the other 2 as a sub charge. This extends playtime to 25hrs. It also features a 10/40 Second selectable Digital anti-skip. I hardly use the anti-skip anyway because the CD Player hardly skips and if I do use the anti-skip, it's only the 10 sec one. It has an extended 32 programmable track memory. The line out jack features tremendous volume as opposed to a Panasonic XBS, which it was compared to. The only problem was that the Headphones were a bit weak for the Bass Boost. Other features are the Audible Fast Forward/Fast Reverse, Auto Power-Off, Function Hold Key, Random Play: with Lockout, Repeat Play: Track, Disc or Program, an 8 times Oversampling digital filter and a Dual 1-bit Digital to Analog Converter. I would recommend this CD Player or any other Kenwood CD Player for that matter to anyone. If you have any more questions or queries, you're free to email me.

After I've examined it a little more, I decided to write this review with my other thoughts. In the first review done by me below I mentioned that the headphones were a bit weak for the Bass Boost. It turned out that they were actually much more powerful than others. I used the Discman with an Aiwa Headphone that was much larger and stronger in Wattage. I turned on the Bass Boost expecting to hear superb sound quality but was horrified at the scramble of the sound and rattling of the headphone speakers. The line out, I had mentioned had a very high volume as opposed to a Panasonic XBS, but the Discman also possesses very high quality from the Line Out especially when it comes to treble. (This was done with a Kenwood KRC-204 car Stereo) As I find out more about this marvelous CD Player, I will keep on writing more reviews. I assure you that this is a great CD Player leading into the New Millenium...
