Great sound, great price!

(5 out of 5) by Philip Massey on Feb 13, 2000 (Austin, TX United States)
I heard this speakers on my friend's computer, and I could believe that they were under a $100. So, I upgraded from a pair of Altec Lansing ACS90's. The yamahas sound 100 times better and the clarity is amazing. This might be the best speakers under $100. I highly recommend these speakers!

These Speakers Are Good But...

(4 out of 5) by Amazon Customer on Apr 29, 2000 (San Francisco)
I just bought these speakers within the last week, and I simply can not give this product five stars. I actually bought this speaker system for my brother, and I currently am using an Altec Lansing ACS48 system, which is also sold at Amazon.

Obviously, I can not compare a 117 dollar system to 30 dollar system. But I just would like to say that with the rebate, the Yamaha speakers can not be beat. But, you pay for what you get. There is only 30 total watts, therefore the bass sure as heck wont shake your room, but it is adequate. On the other hand, the mid and high range is excellent, considering the size of the satellite speakers. If you want phat BASS, I would not recommend these speakers. I personally love tons of bass, and I found that an 18 watt subwoofer definitely has its limits.

Mainly overall, these are great if you refuse to spend more than 100 dollars. But if you have the money, buy a better system and you will understand how much of a difference there is, especially with the low range sounds. If you want lots of bass, go get an altec or any other system with more than 70 watts in total power.

Good for the price

(4 out of 5) by Andy Mesa on Jul 15, 2000 (Portland, OR USA)
Considering the outrageous prices for speakers these days, I decided to go with these and am not disapointed. The sound quality is excellent, and the set up was harmless. I currently have it hooked up to my computer, but have also used it with my TV and CD player.

The only quabble I have is the volume control. It's placed in the far back of the right speaker, which is hard to reach sometimes. It's also a knob, which is awkward to control horizontally (knobs are meant to be on a vertical plane). Personally I would've preferred a thumb control.

Otherwise, these are excellent speakers for the price.

Great little speakers for a little price

(5 out of 5) by Amazon Customer on Oct 25, 1999
I have had a set of these for about a week and a half and they are great. CDs, DVDs and games (all with strong bass tracks) sound great. The footprint of the speakers in nice and small; but the sound is B I G! The rebate makes this set especially nice.

Little Tiny Speakers - Great Big Sound

(5 out of 5) by Crocker on Jan 12, 2000 (Shorewood, Wisconsin)
These little guys really rock. I particularly liked the fact that you can play music from the cd drive, and work on line at the same time, and the on line sounds are reproduced with the music. Great bass sounds, and the high ends are clear and bright. With the rebate, these are a real value.
