DO NOT BUY THIS PHONE!

(1 out of 5) by T. Haas on Jan 5, 2000 (California)
We got this phone as a wedding gift not more that six months ago. After about three months, it began malfunctioning. Sometimes, when the phone rang and you tried to answer it, it would not answer. It would also not charge when you put it back on the base, so the battery would go dead and there was nothing we could do. We tried to contact Panasonic to have it fixed, but we kept getting the customer no-service run around and finally gave up. I recently accidentally dropped the phone off the kitchen counter, and the antenna broke-so it's not too durable either. I came to Amazon.com and purchased the VTech VT 1920c digital cordless phone with caller ID - strangly...the same price as this phone.

Outstanding

(5 out of 5) by Andrew on Jan 2, 2000 (Woodside, New York)
The features on this phone are great. I live in a large home and reception was an important issue for me. I have excellent reception in the house and in the backyard. The lighted keypad is also great at night. I have faith in panasonic (vcrs, tvs, camcorders, phones, radios); they have all been very good products.

Panasonic fails

(2 out of 5) by Amazon Customer on Dec 5, 1999
I have purchased this phone twice now. Panasonic usually makes quality products, but both phones were duds! The antenna bends and therefore the clarity isn't so great.

A Good Phone If Your Deaf

(2 out of 5) by Richard Matthews on Jan 3, 2000 (New York ,New York)
I brought this phone twice, thinking that the first one was defective. It had a very loud destortion level that seemed to increase with the length of time one stayed on the phone. The speakerphone worked great, the handset was comfortable, its just to bad i couldn't understand anyone I was talking to with the handset. Look somewhere else.

Love these phones

(5 out of 5) by B. Burdett on Apr 20, 2005 (Asheville, NC USA)
I really don't understand the neggie reviews here. I've had two of these phones for a long time -- at least 6 years. I love them. The only thing they don't have that I need is is a mute button. They have not been babied and they've held up great. I recently bought another Panasonic with a mute button and I was terribly disappointed. The sound quality was horrible in comparison. I also tried a V-Tech which was a little better, but still not up to the standard I'm used to. I'd love to find a phone of this quality with a mute.
