Case Logic has done it again!

(5 out of 5) by Amazon Customer on Aug 4, 2000
Compared to what I had been using for my MD player--basically a fanny pack--this case is a HUGE improvement! I was a bit concerned because Amazon.com didn't really go into too much detail, but I will say that it is everything I expected. It has plenty of room for my player and batteries in the main compartment, but if you have one of those small square players you should get something smaller. And there is another zippered compartment with a mesh pocket for my headphones and remote, something I had always been lacking with my portable CD player case. There is also room for 4 discs, but I already have the matching Case Logic 12-MD organizer (yes, it matches perfectly!) so if anything I have extra room.

This is something I have been trying to buy ever since I got my MD player, and I was so glad to finally find this great case on Amazon.com. Thanks!

Gets the job done -- sort of.

I've been using this for about 18 months now, and it's not a particularly elegant solution, but it works nonetheless. I use this case primarily in my front pants pocket when I'm walking between classes on a large campus. It certainly protects the player, but there's a lot of excess fabric in the case such that it takes up more space in a pocket than necessary. You can carry as many as four or five MD's in the back compartment, but this makes the case even fatter than it is when it's empty. Also, there are apparently useless pleats in the front that collect pocket lint. The carrying strap is... well, useless, in my opinion. I wouldn't be caught dead wearing it like a purse, and I've never seen anyone else use the strap, either. The belt loop, which I thought was going to be a major selling point, is disappointing. Why not a clip, so I don't have to undo my belt in public? What's more, it sags unpleasantly when on a belt. The main advantage to MD's is that they're so small, but having this bulky thing kind of defeats the point. Go with the MPC-2 for a much more practical design. It wasn't out when I purchased this.

Okay, but misses the point...

As a travel case this is nice, as a mini-disc storage thing it is lousy...CaseLogic usually has some savvy concerning audio storage but they seem to have missed the boat on this one... One of the main reasons minidiscs are so popular is because we can make so many recordings from different sources on them.

Inevitably any minidisc recorder owner is going to end up with a collection of minidiscs much larger than any CD collection anyone else had (remember how many audio tapes you used to have way back when?) and will need much more storage space than this little duff-kit of a bag...
